Emma Curtis is a Media Communications and Publishing undergraduate from Chepstow, currently studying at Bath Spa University. With her passion for photography and background in art and design, Emma is continuing to develop her skills and build an impressive portfolio. Before studying at Bath Spa University, Emma completed A Levels in Media Studies, Photography and ICT, which helped her to achieve her goals to date and enable her not only to capture great images, but also to produce professional print-based media.
Emma has always been interested in design and photography and enjoys reading publications on these subjects, as well as visiting art galleries and exhibitions to broaden her knowledge. This complements her studies in further education. Other publications that Emma is interested in are that of media theorists, particularly on gender representation.
Skills which Emma is developing from her degree include the use of Adobe programmes such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, which she uses to design magazines, edit photographs and create colour palettes. This year, she hopes to further her research and develop her skills in graphic design and typography.
Alongside her studies, Emma is currently interning at The Self-Publishing Partnership in Bath, as a Digital Marketing Assistant, giving her a deeper understanding of how the publishing industry works and runs. As well as this, Emma has been working as Emma Jane Photography for two years, photographing weddings, new-born shoots and family portraiture.
